This product is 100% VEGAN-FRIENDLY with handmade straps.

The Kilt will have a minimum of 25-30 pleats to achieve the best look and swing.
It will be made from 8 yards of fabric.

I will make this kilt to the highest standard regarding internal construction: with canvas and lining.

There is a massive amount of Kilt Lovers that are vegans.
Wearing wool makes every vegan person feel uncomfortable.
For many of us, it’s simply unacceptable.
Not to mention the leather straps or sporrans.

The only alternative to wool tartan fabric is poly-viscose fabric.
As a Kiltmaker and vegan, I see a poly-viscose tartan fabric as a necessary and quality option.

Rayon (viscose) plus Polyester equals “poly-viscose” fabric.
Viscose, while man-made, is plant-based and feels natural like wool. Polyester throws off wrinkles and shrinkage.
The blend creates functionality while maintaining a look that isn’t readily distinguishable from wool’s original tartan fabric. Poly-viscose fabric is nearly indistinguishable from traditional, more expensive wool fabrics.
Poly-viscose fabric is washable, wears well, drapes beautifully, and is long-lasting and tough.
The kilt will last for generations, as it will be made the best possible way with all necessary tailoring/ Kiltmaking attributes.

 

Viscose is derived from the “cellulose” or wood pulp from fast-growing, regenerative trees such as eucalyptus, beech, and pine, as well as plants such as bamboo, soy, and sugar cane. This cellulose material is then dissolved in a chemical solution to produce a pulpy viscous substance, which is then spun into fibres that can then be made into threads.
Polyester is a synthetic fabric that’s usually derived from petroleum. This fabric is one of the world’s most popular textiles, and it is used in thousands of different consumer and industrial applications.
